How Do I Find My Favourite Perfume?
Choosing a perfume from more than 150 fragrances can feel daunting. The good news: by asking yourself a few simple questions (which olfactory family appeals to you, who it is for, which season and how intense), you can quickly narrow the choice down to two or three Chogan perfumes made for you. Here is our step-by-step guide.
1. Identify your olfactory family
Chogan perfumes from the Olfazeta range are classified by olfactory family. Think about the scents you already love (a flower, a dessert, the smell of wood…): they tell you which family to look at.
- Floral: rose, jasmine, orange blossom, tuberose. Romantic and radiant, it is the most popular family.
- Fruity: pear, peach, red berries, blackcurrant. Cheerful, sparkling and easy to wear every day.
- Citrus: bergamot, lemon, mandarin. Fresh and energising, ideal in the morning and in summer.
- Woody: cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli. Warm and elegant, very present in men's and unisex perfumes.
- Oriental / amber: amber, spices, incense, resins. Enveloping and sensual, perfect for evenings and winter.
- Gourmand: vanilla, caramel, praline, coffee. Soft and comforting, for lovers of sweet notes.
- Aromatic / fougère: lavender, mint, sage, green notes. Fresh and clean, a great men's classic.
- Leather / chypre: leather, oakmoss, smoky notes. A bold and sophisticated character.
On each product page you will find the detailed olfactory pyramid (top, heart and base notes): it is the best way to check that a perfume contains the notes you love.
2. Choose by gender… or not
- Chogan perfumes for women: floral, fruity, gourmand and oriental scents for every style.
- Chogan perfumes for men: woody, aromatic, spicy and fresh.
- Unisex Chogan perfumes: compositions to share, often woody, amber or citrus.
Feel free to explore every category: a “men's” perfume can easily appeal to a woman, and vice versa. All that matters is the pleasure you take in wearing it.
3. Think about the season and the occasion
- Spring / summer: go for citrus, aquatic, green or fruity notes, light and refreshing.
- Autumn / winter: choose woody, amber, spicy and gourmand scents, warmer and more enveloping.
- At the office: a fresh fragrance or a light floral, pleasant and discreet for those around you.
- For an evening out: an intense oriental, gourmand or woody perfume with a stronger trail.
4. Choose the intensity that suits you
Olfazeta perfumes are extraits with 30% fragrance concentration, which gives them good longevity. For a discreet result, one or two sprays are enough; for a more noticeable trail, apply to the pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears). A perfume evolves on the skin: the top notes fade after a few minutes, giving way to the heart and then the base. Wait 10 to 15 minutes before making up your mind.
5. Try before you decide
A perfume does not behave the same way on every skin. The safest option is to try it: order samples of two or three fragrances that appeal to you, wear them for a whole day and keep the one you prefer.
Our tips for testing well
- Test on your skin rather than on a paper strip: body heat reveals the perfume.
- Do not test more than three fragrances at a time so as not to overwhelm your sense of smell.
- Smell the perfume at different times of the day: top, heart and base notes follow one another.
